Oh Happy Day!

Yesterday was a huge day in the lives of our good friends, the Evans. Parker had his third, and likely last, open heart surgery. The surgery went way better than anyone could have hoped and he is started to recooperate. They will get to go home in about two weeks! I know the weight they have been carrying for three years has been lifted. Praise God!

Last weekend we took Mallory to the daffodil field on Wye Mountain. She loved it and thought it was a tiny maze. We didn't stay long because she had allergies or a cold or something. That something ended making BJ and I pretty sick this week, and we both had to miss work Tuesday. Annoying!

We also bought plane tickets and made hotel reservations this week to go to NYC this summer. We have only been on one other vacation by ourself - our honey moon. I am so excited! BJ has only been once and I have never been. We looked at a jillion vacation options (with and without Mallory), and for some reason NY was the least expensive for plane tickets leaving us more money to play with while we are there. Danielle and I had tried to plan a trip together to have some good girlie time, but we couldn't coordinate. Don't be mad, Linda! I love you and we will take our own trip too!

Mallory has been trying a variety of hairstyles in an attempt to find what works best. Sometime we blow dry it, sometimes we do a pony tail, sometimes we do nothing. This week we flatironed it one day, but that look didn't last long. It was a half curly half straight mess by the end of the day. Today we scrunched the curls. We will see what it's like at the end of the day. Not that I am concerned about Mallory's hair, it's just that at the end of the day it's all a curly mass on top of her head with a wad in front of her eyes and knots in the back. All the other kids look semi normal by the end of the day, but she looks like a homeless toddler who hasn't had a bath in weeks.

Some examples from this week:

This weekend we hope to get the yard ready for outside playtime. This involves getting the boat out of the way. I may have to forfeit putting my car in the garage. But, if it means outdoor fun for Mallory, I'll do it!
