I'm so Big!

Oh how quickly little Mally grows. Things she has been up to lately:

1) Sleeping regularly 8 to 8 1/2 hours at night. She seems to have 3 or 4 excellent nights then 1 or 2 weird ones. But, she is fairly predictable. She has also stopped the protest crying at night. We take a bath, read a story, eat, rock for a couple of minutes then lay down about 9:30 without a peep until 5:30 or 6 when Mommy and Daddy are getting up. How convenient that she has so graciously adapted her little schedule to ours! :)

2) Making all kinds of noises. She has started to really ooooh and aaaah at things. She laughs out loud more and more every day. Especially after her bath. I pick her up and she faces the mirror to get her hair brushed and she gets extremely excited! She laughes and kicks and grins at the baby in the mirror. So cute, Mally.

3) Holding my head up like a big girl. She has been staying with her Grandmommie for the past three weeks until I am off for Christmas Break (daycare starting in January). They have been working on tummy time and she is really doing good at raising up. If you let her face the tv she won't get so mad about being on her belly and will work hard at holding and pushing herself up.

4) Holding on to everything. My hair, her hair, her fingers, my fingers, burp clothes, blankets and now bath toys! I was showing her some bath toys last night and got her to hold onto a little whale for a while but she let go of it when I got the camera turned on. Oh well.

5) Tracking. Just this week I have noticed how well she is following objects with her eyes. On Monday her Pop Pop said that she was following him and laughing at him. Last night I had her staring and following her bath toys for a really long time. She has a really annoying butterfly toy that makes a lot of noise but on long car trips I can entertain her with it forever! She can't take her eyes off it and laughs at every annoying sound it makes.

6) Screaming. Not crying. Screaming. As in something or someone startled me and I am going to scream in fear. I thought as first it was just when someone picked her up before she had adjusted to that person being in the room. She's fine when friends or family have been around for a few minutes then someone picks her up, but she flips out when it happens too suddenly. The lady at the doctors office, BJ's mom the other night, my mom's friend. Now, her Mamaw has held her lots of times so I know that it must just be that Mally wasn't expecting someone other than Mommy or Daddy to pick her up. BUT, she screamed the other night at BJ! I don't know what happened, but he must have made a movement or noise that scared her because she screamed. Tears, screaming, terror. Oh, Mallory, we can't wait until your first thunderstorm. I'm sure that will be loads of fun!

That was a lot of words! Here are a few pictures from this week...

Could she look anymore like BJ! Slap a beard on her and they would be twinkies.

  1. That last pic is so beautiful! Those sweet little eyes. And, YES, it is nice of her to adjust to your schedule. What a blessing! What a sleeper! Hip hip hooray for Mallory!! (And to your obviously wonderful "mom" skills!)
